book nerd.

I am a total bibliophile.

Have you ever heard of a book rescue? It's an event where books are offered for free {usually by schools or libraries}, before they're thrown away. I love, love book rescues. I have a sweet friend who went to one once. It was held in the middle of a sloping parking lot, during a downpour. The books were under a tent, on top of tables, but the tent happened to be on low ground, and it was raining so hard that the water was knee-deep. My friend brought her rubber wellies and {literally} dove right in. She emerged completely soaked, and many books richer. This friend is my hero.

;)

A few days ago, we finally got around to buying bookshelves for my books. Because, you know, I have lots of them. {My husband will account for that. He's had to move them three times in the past six months. Poor fellow.}

Marty put the shelves together. I watched. ;)

Before...

After...

Have I read them all? Nope. Will I ever get around to reading them all? Hopefully... but that's not the point. The point is, they're there if I need them.

{Note: I still have more books that need shelves. Nuts...}

Some of you are thinking, "NERD."

Yes indeed. Just call me Book Nerd. The nerdiest book nerd of them all.

Any other book lovers out there? I'd love to hear from you. We can start a support group: "Book Addicts and Their Spouses Who Put Up with Them."

A book shelf! What a *novel* idea! I have a little bookshelf leftover from my high school days, but the rest of my books are stacked in piles around the house. It's a disaster when my friends' kids come over...

I have 3 full Billy cases in the living room, one in the spare bedroom, and a huge container of books still in a closet...and that's after getting rid of at least 50 books! :) I LOVE books!

Word! Have you read this Anna Quindlen quotation? "I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves." (Also, I know that crazy friend with the wellies! <3)

Billy bookshelves are the best! And that may be the most beautiful bookshelf I've ever seen with all those wonderful books. :)

Hey 'cousin'! I've got a mini Billy in my room at the lake house, but would be much better off with one like yours! My closet is jam-packed full of books, books, and more books! My book right now that I can't put down is called 'the zookeepers wife'. It's an intense true story of 1940's warsau, but my question for you is how do you find time to read???????

Oh man. I can understand this post as well! :) My fav benefit at Crossway...free and cheap books, of course! Possessions most likely to cross the Atlantic with me? Sorry cute new shirts...it would be my books. Unfortunately, they don't pack as well. :)

Neat-o! I've never heard of a book rescue before, love that idea!

Yay for Marty for putting those shelves together for you, they look awesome! I will have to take a pic sometime for you of all my book piles. It's kinda ridiculous. I already have 4 shelves. I think you have met your match, my friend. :)
